Damaged wire in a silo

An alert was sent regarding the silo's electrical panel. Upon quick verification, the client identified a damaged wire, a risky situation in a silo environment where dust and moving equipment can accelerate escalation.

Context

In this case, the alert concerned the electrical panel connected to the silo. In an agricultural setting, silos and their equipment (motors, augers, ventilation, sensors) often operate under demanding conditions: vibrations, dust, moisture, and load variations.

What was detected

  • Notification sent to the client for the silo's electrical panel.

  • On-site inspection following the alert.

  • Observation: damaged wire (electrical anomaly to be corrected quickly).

Why this is critical

  • Securing of the area and shutdown of the affected equipment if necessary.

  • Replacement/repair of the damaged wire and mechanical protection (routing, fasteners, sheathing, conduit).

  • Verification of friction points, mechanical tension, and panel connections.

  • Recommendation: validation by a qualified electrician to confirm the correction and limit recurrence.

Result

Prevention of a potential fire. Acting on the alert immediately allowed the situation to be corrected before escalation.

Watch for

  • Exposed wires, damaged sheathing, cables near moving parts.

  • Tripped breakers, intermittent motor shutdown, burning smell.

  • Friction marks, cable tension, missing fasteners.
